Galway are through to the Leinster under-20 hurling semi-finals following this 10-poin victory over Offaly in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe on Tuesday (8th April 2025).

Jason Rabbitte got Galway's first goal but Ryan O'Donnell's hat-trick swung this tie in favour of the Tribesmen, playing their first ever home game in the Leinster championship.

Salerno Secondary School, Salthill are through to the FAI Schools Minor Girls National Cup Final after a 4-1 victory over Coláiste Choilm Ballincollig on Tuesday (8th April 2025).

Rachel Leyland was the hero with four second-half goals.

Coach Conor Killeen gave his reaction after the final whistle.

LGFA: Galway senior captain Kate Geraghty with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly ahead of their National League Division 2 Final against Cork

Lidl Ireland and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) are gearing up for an action-packed weekend of National Football League Finals across all four divisions, with Armagh, Kerry, Cork and Galway all battling it out at Croke Park, while Cavan, Wexford, Antrim and Fermanagh will target silverware in Drogheda and Clones.

 

The scene is set for four intriguing ties – as captains and representatives from the eight competing teams gathered in Dublin today ahead of the weekend fixtures.

 

The Divisions 1 and 2 Finals will form an exciting double-header at Croke Park next Saturday, April 12, with the Divisions 3 and 4 Finals to be contested next Sunday, April 13, in Drogheda and Clones respectively.

 

In the Division 2 Final, which will precede the Division 1 showpiece, Cork and Galway will battle it out for silverware after claiming promotion.

 

Relegated from Division 1 in 2024, Cork and Galway have bounced back to the top tier at the first attempt, and will now look to put the icing on a sweet-tasting Lidl National League cake by landing the trophy on offer.  Armagh, Kerry, Cork and Galway were also the 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship semi-finalists, proof positive that all four teams have carried last year’s encouraging form into the 2025 season.

 

So, will Kerry gain revenge on Armagh after losing last year’s Lidl NFL Division 1 Final, and move ahead of Cork in the all-time roll of honour with a 13th Division 1 title? Or will Armagh get the better of the Kingdom again at Croke Park to claim their second crown?

 

All will be revealed, as Galway target a first Division 2 title win since 2014, while Cork eye second tier glory for the first time since 2003.

OVER THE LINE: Galway Bay FM's William Davies and Darren Kelly look back RUGBY and Connacht's European Challenge Cup win over Cardiff

Galway Bay FM's William Davies joined Darren Kelly on 'Over The Line' this week (Monday, 7th April 2025) to look back on Connacht's 35-20 victory over Cardiff to book their place in the EPCR European Challenge Cup quarter-final next Saturday (12th).

They also look back on a big day for the clubs where Galwegians qualified for the Energia All-Ireland League Division 2B play-offs; Corinthians missed out on a similar position in Division 2A; while Creggs' couldn't build on their Connacht Junior Cup success, going down to Bective Rangers in the AIL Qualifier semi-final.
