Galway produced a stunning comeback in the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Hurling Final in Laois Hire O'Moore Park, Portlaoise on Monday (18th May 2026) to win a second ever title after extra time.

The Tribesmen trailed 3-15 to 1-9 with 14 minutes remaining before storming back into contention in the final quarter to level at 3-15 apiece when the full time whistle went.  Cillian Power got their first goal before green flags from Tadhg Mac Cárthaigh and Anthony Poniard instigated a Lazarus like recovery.

In the extra 20 minutes, Galway shaded their opponents by 0-5 to 0-4 to win a first Hanrahan Cup since 2023.

Galway have now qualified for the All-Ireland semi-finals which take place the weekend of June 13/14th.

Presentation College Athenry are the FAI Schools First Year Girls National Cup champions following a 3-2 victory over St. Mary’s High School, Midleton in Jackman Park, Limerick on Monday (18th May 2026).

Róisín Hannon struck twice for the Galway school to overturn an early one goal deficit, before Aoibheann Burkes’s goal on 31 minutes ensured this was Athenry’s day.
