Just seven days after facing each other in the FBD Football League Final, Galway and Mayo lock horns again this Sunday (25th January 2026) in the opening round of the National Football League.
Late points from Liam Ó Conghaile and Robert Finnerty gave the maroon and white a 2-12 to 1-14 win in Tuam Stadium, but manager Padraic Joyce would have marked down this league fixture before a ball was kicked in 2026.
Galway won last year's encounter, but Mayo were victors in Salthill in 2024, and another close battle is expected between the Connacht rivals.
Leading up to the game, Galway Bay FM's Kevin Dwyer joined Darren Kelly for the repeat showdown.
