On Saturday next, the eve of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final, Killannin's Kieran Molloy puts his IBF European Welterweight title on the line against the highly rated and unbeaten Sean Noakes. 

The fight will take place at the iconic Copperbox Arena in London and is part of a massive card that also includes the IBF International Welterweight Title meeting of Harlem Eubank and David Papot. 

Ahead of the fight, Kieran spoke to John Mulligan. 

 

History will be made on Saturday, 1st August when Ireland take on Australia in a first ever Australian Rules Football Women's International at the North Sydney Oval.

The Irish contingent has grown from strength to strength down under with 46 players currenlty playing professional including Maigh Cuilinn's Áine McDonagh who has become one of game's top players.

In four seasons with Hawthorn, she has gone from rookie to All-Australian and has become one of the three fastest players ever to score 50 goals (in just 41 outings).

Áine will be part of the 25-person squad that takes on Australia in August and is part of the leadership group with her club.  She joined Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly on 'Over The Line' to chat about her career over the last two years and the upcoming international in Sydney.

Ireland take on Australia at the Nroth Sydney Oval on Saturday, 1st August 2026 at 7.15am Irish time.

For the first time ever at Galway GAA headquarters, Galway United go head-to-head against Sligo Rovers in the Connacht derby of the SSE Airtricity League Men's Premier Division on Saturday (11th July 2026).

With both teams currently in the bottom three of the top flight, victory is a must.  United have already beaten Rovers twice this season but their Bit O'Red won three of their four meetings in 2025.

Leading up to the game, former Galway  United striker Enda Curran, who scored two goals in an equally important 2-1 victory in this fixture in 2025, joined Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly to look ahead to the game but first they chatted about an amazing her on the local scene after he retired from League of Ireland football 18 months previously.

We come to our final game as we build up to Sunday's All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final.

Saturday, July 4th was a day that will be remembered forever as Galway booked their place in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final for the first time since 2018 with a stunning win over Cork at Croke Park.

Galway started well, leading 1-4 to 0-3 after Darragh Neary goaled inside the first 10 minutes. The Tribesmen surrendered that lead when Alan Walsh raised a green flag for the rebels on 24 minutes, but the Westerner's stayed in touch going into half time 1-13 to 1-12 behind.

Galway steered ahead down the stretch as nine points without reply with efforts from Cathal Mannion, Tom Monaghan, Conor Whelan, Gavin Lee and Ronan Glennon coupled with a second yellow card for Cork's Darragh Fitzgibbon saw Cork's grip on the game loosen.

Conor Cooney rounded off the perfect afternoon for Micheal Donoghue's side as his goal in stoppage time giving Galway a 2-26 to 1-18 win.

Saturday the 6th of June saw Galway's Senior Hurlers become Leinster Champions for the first time since 2018 after an impressive 4-29 to 4-15 win over Dublin in Croke Park.

Michael Donoghue's side impressed from the start and led by 1-15 to 1-11 at Half Time with the Galway goal coming from Darragh Neary.

The second half saw Galway keep Dublin at arm's lengthand further goals from Aaron Niland (a penalty), Conor Cooney and John Fleming secured Galway title and a place in the All-Ireland Semi-Final.
