Galway Golfers Return Home After European Championship Win

Galway's Eddie McCormack from Galway Bay Golf Club, Joe Lyons from Galway and Matt Donohue from Portumna have returned home following their performances with the Irish Senior Men’s Team, who won the European Championship for the first time in eight years on Saturday.

Following a stunning performance from Joe Lyons, who topped the individual leaderboard after the Strokeplay, Ireland beat Spain 4-1 in the Quarter Final, with McCormack a 4 and 3 winner over Gonzalo Paradinas. In the Semi-Final, Ireland were 3.5 to 1.5 winners over Finland, and on Saturday in the final, Ireland beat France 3-2, with Joe Lyons the big winner, beating Albert Galloy 2 and 1 in the deciding match.

Portumna’s Matt Donohue was the team's captain.

All three spoke to John Mulligan on Over The Line.
