As part of their fundraising events for two under-14 club players, Aoife and Emma, who are currently undergoing serious treatments for brain tumours, Athenry Football Club launched their final event, a Galabid jersey auction this week, to help reach their final target and alleviate the financial pressure related to travel, treatment and recovery for both families.
On the Galabid website (click HERE), there are many souvenir and collectable jerseys up for auction, with all funds raised going towards Aoife and Emma. They include
- Two framed and signed Ireland jerseys. One from 94’ Jackie’s Army and one from the present-day squad which includes Troy Parrot’s signature.
- Also on offer for all the Liverpool fans is an authenticated signed Trent Alexander-Arnold jersey from the 20/21 season.
- Lastly, we have a signed Galway United Jersey from the 2024 season on offer.
The auction opened last Monday (23rd March 2026) and will run until April 13th.
Athenry FC's fundraising initiative chairperson Anne Walshe joined Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly on 'Over The Line' to tell us more and about Aoife and Emma.

After qualifying for the 2026 Lidl Ladies National Football League Final eight days previously, Galway conclude their Division 1 schedule this Sunday (29th March) when they travel to Waterford in Round 7.
It's a repeat of last year's All-Ireland quarter-final in which Galway prevailed. But the Deise did relegate the Tribeswomen in 2024, and had they won their last fixture against Kildare, they would have been playing a final spot this weekend.
Kilkerrin-Clonberne's Niamh Divilly has had a busy few weeks after helping TU Dublin beat DCU to win a first-ever O'Connor Cup crown recently and was named on the Third Level Team of the Year this week.
Niamh joined Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly to look back on that success and ahead to Galway's upcoming trip to Waterford.
