Galway United couldn't find a way back following the concession of two first half goals in the SSE Airtricity League Men's Premier Division at Eamonn Deacy Park on Friday (22nd May 2026).
Dawson Devoy and Douglas James-Taylor gave the visitors a 2-0 interval lead before Ed McCarthy hit back with two second half Galway United goals. Unfortunately each time, Bohemians found responses through Ross Tierney and Patrick Hickey to take the points, and leave Galway in seventh place, one point ahead of the relegation zone.
Galway Bay FM's match commentary team were Mike Rafferty and Derek Rogers.

After their defeat to Dublin, Galway still need at least one more point to be sure of their place in this year's Leinster senior hurling final when they complete their group programme away to Wexford on Sunday (24th May 2026).
The Tribesmen lost their last provincial championship trip to the South East in 2024. Indeed, the last time they left Wexford with an away win was in 2018 thanks to 12 Joe Canning points and a Conor Whelan goal.
Qualification for the All-Ireland series is already secured for Galway but, even though this will be their last outing in 2026, the Slaneysiders will be determined to finish on a high.
Wexford winger Jack O'Connor attended the championship launch at Kinnity Castle Hotel last month and he chatted to Galway Bay FM's Sean Walsh.

Two weeks following their defeat to Roscommon in the Connacht Final, Galway's senior footballers begin their quest for All-Ireland silverware this Saturday (23rd May) when they host Kildare in Round 1.
Memories of one of Galway's great days will come flooding back (the 1998 Final) but the Tribesmen have a very impressive record against the Lilywhites. They haven't lost to Kildare in competitive action since 1985, and are aiming to go 15 games unbeaten against the Leinster side.
Leading up to the game, former Galway footballer Gareth Bradshaw, who scored in the last championship meeting between the two counties in 2018, looked ahead to the game with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly.

ST. CUAN’S COLLEGE, CASTLEBLAKENEY were crowned 2026 FAI Schools First Year ‘B’ Boys National Cup Champions following a pulsating encounter against Edmund Rice Secondary School, Carrick on Suir in Killavilla United FC, Roscrea yesterday afternoon (Thursday, May 21).
Two quickfire goals in the opening ten minutes saw the sides at a stalemate for the remainder of the game despite some good chances from both parties to take the win! However, the versatility of both goalkeepers Sam Carmondy and Iarlaith Griffin, kept the contest alive.
It took extra time to decide the winner, and it was the Galway side that edged out with two goals in the opening period.
