University of Galway Celebrates 150 years of Rugby on Saturday Week

The Galmont Hotel in Galway City will play host to a very special event on October as one of the oldest Rugby Clubs celebrates it's 150th Anniversary.
University of Galway Rugby Club was formed in 1874 and boasts a long and proud history with players who went on to win honours at Provincial and International level.
Amongst them, Ciaran Fitzgerald who captained both Ireland and the British & Irish Lions, and is one of Ireland's greatest captains and leaders.
In addition Dr. Mick Molloy who for many years partnered Willie John McBride in the second row for Ireland, winning 27 caps over a long and illustrious career.
William Davies has been speaking to the both of them as they look forward to celebrating the club's history.

Monday Night's Over The Line featured a special feature on the Galway FA as the new season gets up and running.
George and John were joined by Kevin O Neill Chairman, Tom Reddington treasurer, Mike Daly Head of Girls, Terry Lee Head of Fixtures,, Rob Horsnell Fixtures, Ger McGrath Fixtures Committee
Ger McGrath and Michael Daly talked about the league's representative teams and Manager Brendan O'Connor announced the Galway Squad for the upcoming Oscar Traynor Cup that begins on Sunday against the Roscommon and District League.
The draws were also made for the Ladies Championship, Ladies Premier, U18 Division One and Two, Jimmy Sullivan, Schweppes, Jack Lillis, Joe Ryan and Michael Byrne Cup competitions with Galway United's Greg Cunningham conducting the draw.

Atlantic Masters Swimming Club Celebrates Tenth Anniversary This November

One of the biggest open water swimming clubs in the country will be celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
From an initial membership of just three, Atlantic Masters Swimming Club has over 100 members and has achieved so much in the past 10 years from at least 100 crossings of Galway Bay to the big Channel Swims like the English and North Channel.
It has also raised a vast amount of money for various charities including Cancer Care West, RNLI, OMCSU plus many more.
To celebrate this achievement, the club will hold an exceptional anniversary night out in the Ardiluan Hotel on November 16th with a 3 course meal, wine reception and some very special guests.
Fergal Madden and Christina Hyland joined John Mulligan in the studio on Saturday Sport.

Connacht produced one of their best second half performances in recent times coming from 27-7 down to beat the Sharks by six points at a passionate Dexcom Stadium on Saturday evening.
A try from Dave Heffernan was all they scored in the first half but an inspired second 40 saw tries from Heffernan again, Cathal Forde, Shane Jennings and Oisin Dowling with Forde also kicking nine points. Josh Ionae kicked the conversion after Heffernan's try in the first half.
