A Winning Homecoming for Connemara's Thomas O'Toole - The Commentary

Connemara professional Thomas O'Toole made it a winning homecoming in front of a packed Leisureland on Saturday night. 

With massive home support, the unbeaten boxer overcame a game Hussein Itaba over eight rounds.

Cregmore Claregalway F.C. Fundraising Raffle Feature

Cregmore Claregalway F.C. is currently working on a plan to see the club's development of facilities. 

The club has grown incredibly since their foundation and now plays host to over 40 teams of all ages. 

The club's mission statement is to encourage a strong community bond on and off the pitch with neighbours, players, supporters and businesses in the area.

With this in mind, and for it to happen, they are embarking on a huge fundraising drive to purchase land and develop first class facilities for the soccer club and wider community use.

 

To achieve this will require significant investment from a combination of club funds, club financing and other fundraising.

 

Chairman of the club Brian O'Riordan and committee registrar Kieran Garvey joined John in the studio during Sunday Sport to talk about the fundraising effort and the major raffle that they are working on.

Galway United will target continuing the momentum gained from last week's win over Athlone Town as they host Cork City in Round 2 of the SSE Airtricity League Women's Premier Division.

Goals from Jenna Slattery and Eve Dossen helped the Tribeswomen to a 2-0 win against the Midlanders and will start as strong favourites to get another three points.

Galway United enjoyed two wins over Cork City last season, a 1-0 away before getting a 3-0 victory at home.
