Cregmore Claregalway FC Launches Ambitious "Quid Games" Fundraiser

Cregmore Claregalway FC (CCFC) have announced the launch of its most ambitious fundraising event yet where players participate in a series of games with a chance to win €10K. CCFC’s ‘Quid Games’ will take place on Jan 31st 2025.

Inspired by the global popularity of series made popular on Netflix, selected participants will have the chance to win €10K, with the option to donate part of their winnings to a charity of their choice. To participate, individuals need to raise €2K for the club through sponsorship or fundraising efforts. Every team in the club is encouraged to nominate a player who will represent them on the night. Agility is a must for those who fancy their chances to take the top prize on what will undoubtedly be an evening full of entertainment.

This continued fundraising is essential not only for securing vital funds toward the clubs development place but it also provides an excellent opportunity for members and friends to come together in a social setting.

Connacht Clan Feature - Clan Looking Ahead To Rest Of The Season

The Connacht Clan, the official supporters club of Connacht Rugby, are looking forward to the return of the rugby season beginning with the visit of the Bulls on Saturday and the forthcoming European Challenge Cup.

Sean Connor and Shane Mulryan joined John in studio to talk about the Clan and the plans for the next few weeks. 

St Mary's GAA Club Holding Addiction Awarness Evening On Wednesday

St Mary GAA Club Athenry is hosting an Addiction Evening on the 27th of November at 8pm in the Raheen Woods Hotel. 

The guest speaker is All-Ireland winner with Armagh Oisín McConville who is an addiction councillor.

Ollie Freaney of St Mary's spoke to John Mulligan on Sunday Sport about the evening. 

Francis Kelly on the successful Western Yards Connacht Backyard Ultra Championship

Held at the Kilcornan Walled Garden, Woods and Trails in Clarinbridge, the Western Yards Connacht Backyard Ultra Championship saw 93 runners start, each aiming to run as many laps of the 6.7km looped course as they could.

While six runners managed to achieve the magic mark of 24 hours and 100 miles, it was Armagh man Vincent McMath (pictured right) from Crossmaglen who held on to win completing 32 laps -  214.4 kms - over 32 hours, pushed all the way by Paula Wright from Newport, Co. Tipperary, one lap and an hour behind.

Connacht Hockey Feature

The Connacht Hockey community has called on the Galway City Council PACT to allocate match funding for the long-awaited hockey pitch at Millers Lane at their upcoming budget meeting. 

This request comes after a disappointing and unsuccessful application to the government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund (LSIF) following over 17 years of lobbying for a second Hockey pitch in Galway City for clubs and schools.

 

The hockey community has expressed gratitude towards the City Council and its members for their ongoing support but has emphasised that this project has been in development since 2007.
