Reece Hutchinson's 69th-minute goal condemned Galway United to a fourth straight SSE Airtricity League Men's Premier Division defeat in Eamonn Deacy Park on Friday (16th May 2025).
It means John Caulfield's side remain in eighth place on 20 points, nine behind leaders Shamrock Rovers. But they now hold just an eight-point advantage on Cork City and Sligo Rovers.

Following their fourth consecutive Connacht senior football championship victory, Galway begin their quest for Sam Maguire this Saturday (17th May 2025) when they host Dublin in the opening game of the round-robin series.
Padraic Joyce's charges are in a difficult group that also includes Armagh and Derry and will be determined to repeat last June's stunning quarter-final victory over the Metropolitians.
Former Galway captain Barry Brennan played in the 1983 All-Ireland Final against Dublin and also won five Connacht championships between 1982 and 1987.
The two-time county senior championship winner with St. Grellan's looked ahead to the game with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly.

Galway United aim to get back on track after three defeats in the men’s SSE Airtricity League Premier Division on Friday (16th May 2025) when they host Sligo Rovers.
John Caulfield’s side won 2-1 away in April, but haven’t secured a home victory over their Connacht rivals since 2017.
Recent back-to-back braces led to Moses Dyer being named the SSE Airtricity League Men's Player of the Month.
