Galway were crowned FBD League champions after a late Robert Finnerty free saw them beat Mayo by a solitary point at Tuam Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Despite Galway leading by 2-6 to 0-5 at half-time, Mayo drew level through an Adam Barrett penalty, and even hit the front moments later. But Padraig Joyce's men remained cool, and thanks to a breach by Mayo, Galway were awarded a 13-metre free which Finnerty coolly slotted to win the first available silverware of 2026.
